Photometry Express

Installation

Download and unzip the Photometry-Express ZIP file to the desktop or preferred directory.  Photometry Express can be downloaded from the Downloads link (ZIP file).

The ZIP archive includes the application executable (.exe file) and source code.
(The source code can be deleted if not required)

Running Photometry Express

  • Start the Photometry-Express application.
  • Choose “Settings” and enter all details. You will need a detailed knowledge of your camera performance to do this, but this is necessary for full accuracy.

Settings

  • Create a plain text file ‘Objects.csv’ and save it in the same directory. This may be manipulated by a text editor or by using a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. The file should contain a master list of all stars that you wish to measure. A sample file is provided in the Test directory.  Use the headings as a guide to the required format.
  • Click on File | Load Data to load and remember this list. (You may use the supplied ‘Objects.csv’ for testing here).
  • Click on File | Open Image and select the image file (the supplied example ‘V650_Ori_2V.fit’ can be used for testing). The image will be displayed together the measurement results.
